CHESHIRE — Town Council members met in executive session to hear an update on an ongoing police investigation but town leaders haven’t released details of the matter.

Town Manager Sean Kimball said some members received an update from police at a special meeting earlier this month. The council met again on a public safety investigation during Tuesday’s meeting.

“It’s information that I thought was important to share to them,” he said.

Kimball said the council met in executive session and wouldn’t release details since it is an ongoing investigation. He clarified that it wasn’t related to town personnel.

Once the investigation is complete, any decision or reaction from the council would be made in open session, he said.

Deputy Police Chief Brian Pichnarcik was in the executive session meeting on Aug. 9.

Councilors contacted this week, including Town Council Chairman Rob Oris, a Republican, said they couldn’t disclose the nature of the executive session meeting.

Peter Talbot, a Democrat, didn’t elaborate on this week’s meeting with police.

“Everything has been in executive session,” he said.
