Cheshire police report attempted robbery at Stop and Shop Saturday

CHESHIRE — Police investigated an attempted robbery at Stop & Shop on Saturday.

A man wearing a black ski mask approached a person in the parking lot of the Highland Avenue store around 6:45 a.m. and demanded the person’s car keys, according to a police press release. The person refused and the suspect left in a silver Nissan Altima. There was no other description available of the suspect. No weapon was shown.

Police said they have increased patrols of all open businesses in response to the COVID-19 emergency. Police encourage residents to be vigilant at home and while traveling.

Police noted door-to-door soliciting has been suspended in town. Residents are also reminded not to give out personal information over the phone or by email.
