CHESHIRE — A Waterbury man is facing charges after police said he was found in possession of a stolen gun and 21 bags of marijuana.
Karime Diaz, 35, of Waterbury was charged Thursday with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, theft of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a permit, weapon in a motor vehicle and traveling unreasonably fast.
Police said they stopped Diaz around 4 p.m. for speeding. During the stop, police said they found probable cause to search the vehicle and found the gun and 21 bags of individually packaged marijuana.
Police said the gun was reported stolen in Watertown in 2014.
Diaz posted $15,000 bond. He is due to appear at Meriden Superior Court on June 13.
