CHESHIRE — A half-mile stretch of West Johnson Avenue, between Knotter Drive and Peck Lane, was closed while crews repaved the road after a reported water main leak Tuesday morning.
Regional Water Authority spokesman Dan Doyle said the leak was reported around 8:30 a.m.
Workers excavated the area and completed repairs to the main by 10:45 a.m., Doyle said. Water service for four customers was temporarily disrupted while those repairs were underway.
Doyle said water service since has been restored for affected customers.
Meanwhile, the road remains closed due to repaving and other repairs after the excavation.
Cheshire police, in social media posts, advise drivers to avoid the area if possible.
Police anticipated that section of West Johnson Avenue would be closed for at least the afternoon and early evening Tuesday.
