CHESHIRE — Traffic along a segment of Route 42 near downtown will be impacted by a milling and resurfacing project scheduled to begin Monday.

The state Department of Transportation will be repaving a 1.84 mile portion of the road, also known as North Brooksvale Road, between Mountain Road and Bethany Mountain Road, according to a DOT announcement. The milling, where the surface is removed, will take place Monday through Thursday. The resurfacing is expected to take place April 26 through May 3.

“Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions,” the announcement said.

The work will be done between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to DOT spokesperson Kevin Nursick. Traffic control personnel and road signs will be in place to help guide traffic through the work area, where lane closures can be expected.

“Motorists are advised to remain alert, drive cautiously, and to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity,” the announcement says.
