Isaias causes power outages throughout region, heavy in Cheshire



As Tropical Storm Isaias hit the state Tuesday afternoon, thousands of power outages were reported across the region. 

In Cheshire by 6 p.m., Eversource reported over 10,000 customers out of power. 

As of around 6 p.m., Southington saw over 5,000  Eversource customers out of power.

Meriden had 433 outages as of the same time Tuesday. 

Numbers were not yet available in Wallingford as of 6 p.m., which is covered by the Wallingford Electric Division. 

Tropical Storm Isaias created tornadoes and dumped rain over Virginia and Maryland early Tuesday after making landfall as a hurricane near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, according to the Associated Press. 

The Associated Press reported the National Hurricane Center was predicting heavy rain and more tornadoes as Isaias moved into New England Tuesday evening with flash flooding possible in urban areas all along the Interstate 95 corridor.
