Labor Day is the official sign that summer is over, but let’s enjoy the day off and these eats! Here are three spots to spend your Labor Day:

Glenwood Drive-In - 2538 Whitney Ave., Hamden

Celebrate Labor Day the New England way with a fresh lobster roll from Glenwood Drive In in Hamden. The lobster rolls are hot, tender and full of butter. Paired with a lemon wedge, it’s the perfect meal for a day of relaxing.

At the Glenwood Drive In you can enjoy your meal inside, or outside at picnic tables. This spot also offers hot dogs, hamburgers, fried seafood, fries and more. End your delicious meal right next door with a sweet treat from Kelly’s Kone Konnection. Ice cream and a lobster roll will put the cherry on top to your summer!

Smokin’ With Chris –59 W. Center St., Southington

If BBQ is on your mind for this Labor Day, look no further than Smokin’ With Chris in Southington. Portions are huge and the food comes out piping hot. If you’re unsure of what to get, Smokin’ With Chris offers family platters and combo meals to get a little taste of everything. From chicken to brisket and all the mac and cheese in between, there’s something everyone will enjoy.

The BBQ sauce is tangy and generously spread on the meat. Once you try it, you’ll be wanting a whole bottle to take home. And the best part is, you can! Smokin’ With Chris also sells bottles of the BBQ sauce at the restaurant. This is the perfect place if you’re looking for a lot of food for Labor Day.

Frankie’s – 866 N. Colony Road, Wallingford

Though it may be new to Wallingford, Frankie’s is not new to making delicious American food. At this new location, Frankie’s offers classic eats perfect for your Labor Day. It’s also very affordable. For a foot long hot dog and side of fries, expect to pay less than $10. Frankie’s dogs are ready quickly and served hot. Top it off with chili or cheese for an extra charge, or enjoy the free toppings they have to offer including hot relish, sweet relish, pickles, ketchup and mustard.

Frankie’s also serves cheeseburgers, fried seafood, fries, onion rings and salads. This new restaurant is recently decorated and clean. Be sure to check out the newly spray painted sign on the side of the building!
