It’s that time of year. Summer is dwindling and all the local and chain coffee shops are bringing back the fall drinks. I’m sure I’m not alone in enjoying a seasonal pumpkin spice latte every so often. Since getting an espresso maker last Christmas however, I have been making my own lattes at home.

Here is a simple recipe to make your own pumpkin spice latte at home (with or without an espresso maker or frother.)

Ingredients:

Cup of espresso or black coffee

1 ½ cups of canned pumpkin puree

1 cup of coconut or almond milk unsweetened

1 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg

1 Tbs maple syrup

¼ cup coconut sugar (or white, brown sugar)

Optional – Whipped cream

Steps:

1.Brew a medium cup of coffee or make espresso.

2.Bring coconut milk to a boil.

3.Whisk in pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar until combined.

4.Let mixture cool completely until no longer steaming.

5.Pour into a frother then pour into coffee/espresso.

6.Or pour into coffee and use a handheld blender or frother, or simply stir.

7.Top with whipped cream and cinnamon.
