5 local places to grab a spring-themed drink

Spring is in the air and in our coffee cups! Local coffee shops are rolling out spring drink menus, and whether you’re enjoying it outside or on the go, you won’t want to pass up these coffee and sweet drink flavors.

Cheshire Coffee, Cheshire

Cheshire Coffee has an extensive spring menu. It includes coffees and chai teas that can be served hot, iced or in the style of a frappe. The shop will also be offering various flavors of freshly squeezed lemonade starting in May.

I got the Cinnamon Bun Chai Tea Latte as a frappe and the frothiness was perfect for the warm day. The drink was topped with whipped cream and dusted with cinnamon. The Raspberry Chai Tea Latte was a well balanced mixture of sweet and spicy. And what screams “spring” more than a pink drink?

Bee Knees Cafe, Milford

Located by Walnut Beach in Milford, the Bees Knees Cafe is a honeybee themed coffee and pastry shop where the cookies are bigger than your head. When you walk in, you are greeted by friendly staff and the sweet smell of baked goods. The outside of the building is bright and colorful, and the inside is filled with cute honeybee decor.

The Banana Oat smoothie was the perfect way to start my day. The drink was light and sweet with a hint of cinnamon and agave. Just footsteps away from the beach, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the spring weather.

Pistachio Cafe, New Haven

This is a must go-to spot for aesthetics alone! Pistachio Cafe on Whalley Avenue is a cute corner coffee shop beautifully decorated with vintage radios and floral accent walls. There are small tables to enjoy your drinks or Victorian style chairs arranged in a circle where patrons often read or chat with friends. Large display cases of freshly made baklavas and croissants catch your eye.

Dried flower petals are sprinkled on top of their spring lattes like the Rose Latte and Lavender Latte. Pair your lovely drink with a picture worthy pastry or oversized macaron.

Crossroads, North Haven

If you're looking for a coffee shop off the beaten path, Crossroads is the place! With a giant chalkboard menu and vines of greenery spread throughout, it’s a place you could hang out for a while. Crossroads has a wide selection of coffees, teas and smoothies.

The Mint Chocolate Chip smoothie was a great way to jumpstart my spring. The smoothie was made with fresh ingredients and was generous in portions. Bring a laptop and hang out a while next to the lovely collection of plants by the window.
