WALLINGFORD — A Meriden business owner has branched out to Wallingford with a new location but the same concept of offering healthy coffee, shakes and teas.

Erica Santore, owner, opened Bliss Nutrition in Meriden in 2019. Now, she has brought the same concept to Wallingford Nutrition Spot, which opened Monday, Jan. 18.

“I’ve always wanted to own my own business,” she said. “My goal was three in the first year. When I saw this spot open, I just knew it was meant to be.”

Like Bliss Nutrition, everything at Wallingford Nutrition Spot is plant based. The protein shakes taste like smoothies and are low in calories and sugar, while high in protein. The energizing metabolism boosting teas are sugar free.

“We also do protein coffee, protein oat bowls, and smoothie bowls,” Santore said. “I just want to provide healthy take out, healthy fast food for people.”

Both locations have similar menus. Santore said the most popular item is the White Chocolate Reese’s shake.

“I like the chocolate or fruity flavored smoothies.” Lydia Dellipoali said during her first visit to Wallingford Nutrition Spot. “I found out about the new location because the business page follows me on social media and I’m friends with some of the employees.”

Although the owner said she was nervous to open a new business during the pandemic, she said the restaurant shouldn’t have any problems with safety.

“We offer delivery and curbside,” Santore said. “Everything is constantly being sanitized and we have the six-feet markers in the shop.”

Along with social media, to help get the word out about the new location Santore has gone outside the shop to honor local heroes.

“We are getting out into the community and giving out free samples to teachers at local schools for all they are doing for the kids,” she said. “Just getting into the community and offering healthy stuff, to show our appreciation.”

The owner plans to have a grand opening event in February but does not have a date set yet.

Wallingford Nutrition Spot, 314 Main St., is open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
