MERIDEN — A seafood restaurant is planning to open at the food court in the Meriden Mall in March.

More Than Just Lobster will open its third location in Meriden this spring, owner Demetrius Mack said. He is aiming for a March 1 opening. The restaurant currently has locations in New Britain and Hartford.

“Our food speaks for itself, a lot of people love it,” Mack said. “When opportunity comes you gotta grab it.”

Mack said he chose Meriden for multiple reasons. His fiance, Courtney Pavlick, manages the New Britain location and is a Meriden native. He said a lot of people from the Meriden area  travel to his current locations, so opening in Meriden would bring the food closer to them. Mack said he is working with a great group of local suppliers.

Meriden Mall Manager Chris Powers said the goal is to fill every vacant spot in the building.

“We have never has a seafood based food court tenant so this will do well,” Powers said. “We hope it attracts many customers and maybe workers from the hospital as well.”

MidState Medical Center is across the street from the mall.

More than Just Lobster offers five different seasoning options, including lemon butter, garlic cheese, Cajun, butter and old bay. Customers can also choose a blend of all of the seasonings, called “Mack sauce.” Mack said the lobster rolls are very popular.

“Our seafood is made with love,” Mack said. “It’s very, very affordable. We make it affordable for everyone to enjoy.”
