Alphabet Vegetable Soup is a comfort staple food reminding me of winter days during my childhood. There is something so warm and satisfying about a bowl of soup! My daughters love most soups, but are picky about certain ingredients. The easiest alphabet vegetable soup contains kid friendly favorites – potatoes, peas, green beans and alphabet pasta.

One BIG difference between my vegetable ABC soup and others you may find online is this does NOT contain tomatoes. My daughters do not like tomatoes, so I often omit them from most of our dishes. Another difference from traditional alphabet soup is it’s thicker than most soups as well. You can make the soup with more broth if you prefer it to be less chunky.

Tips for Making a Quick and Easy Soup

Must have secret ingredient: FROZEN VEGETABLES. You can use any combination of frozen vegetables, but for this recipe I used green beans and peas.

ABC Pasta: This can be a tricky to find in stores, but if your grocery store has Ronzini pasta, they should carry the Alphabet version.

Vegetable Broth: I always keep boxes of broth or bouillon cubes in the cabinets instead of making my own broth. It’s just easier when you have hungry kids to open a container of broth or mix a bouillon cube with water than to simmer meat/vegetables for hours.

The Easiest Homemade Alphabet Vegetable Soup Recipe

Here is how to make the easiest homemade ABC vegetable soup you’ll ever eat. This 7 ingredient recipe is a perfect kid-friendly soup for fall or winter!


6-8 cups vegetable broth less for chunky soup

1 cup small cubed potatoes peel + dice potatoes

12 oz frozen vegetables your choice

1/4 cup Alphabet Pasta

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt + pepper Or more to taste!

Grated Parmesan Cheese Topping!


Pour broth into a large dutch oven or pot.

Add potatoes and simmer on medium low heat until they are tender when pierced with a fork. (You MUST cook the potatoes first or the vegetables become mushy.)

Add the frozen vegetables and pasta.

Add the onion and garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Once the pasta is cooked (al dente, not too soft), remove from heat and serve with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese!
