In lieu of usual Mother’s Day brunches and dinners, many local restaurants are offering special take-out menus. Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 10. 

MERIDEN 

Avanti Restaurant: 

Offering a limited menu which includes a few specials, appetizers, desserts and pizza. Party platters are also available if you order by Friday. Entrees range from $14.95 for lasagna, to $34 for surf and turf.

More than two dozen tray options are also available, including baked ziti, eggplant parmigiana, stuffed sole and vegetables.

II Monticello: 

Offering a family-style menu, with your choice of a pasta and an entree (pork and chicken), with salad, vegetables, mashed potatoes and bread.

Serves six people for $99, with an option to add more for $15 per person. 

You can also get trays, which serve eight to 10 people, of lasagna, eggplant parm, meatballs, plus chicken and other pasta dishes.

Trays cost between $25 and $35. Italian pastries by the dozen also available. 

All orders need to be placed by Thursday. Dinners can be picked up curbside, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The full catering menu is also available.

WALLINGFORD 

Gaetano’s Tavern on Main: 

Place your order by calling 203-294-1114. Open from noon to 7:30 p.m. on Mother’s Day. (*Please note the deadline for orders was not Thursday as previously stated. Advance orders are appreciated.)

You can order from the regular menu or from the special Mother’s Day menu, which includes a la carte offerings like prime rib and encrusted pork loin and family platters to feed four people, like chicken parmigiana and bolognese.

Entrees come with salads. Family salads can be added to the platters for $10 extra, as well as garlic bread for $5 extra.

Dad’s Restaurant:

Will be open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mother’s Day for curbside pickup. Text your orders to 203-701-7333 or call 203-265-4868.

In addition to the full breakfast and lunch menus, take-out specials include an assortment of muffins and scones, cupcakes, quiche, and dinner to-go.

Muffins and scones come in trays of six or 10, with chocolate covered strawberries, for $28 or $39 respectively.

Quiches are vegetable or meat, for about $15.

Also available is cinnamon swirl French toast bake and a variety of cupcake flavors, like red velvet, lemon and carrot cake.

Dinner options include a lobster and shrimp pot pie, lobster bisque, chicken marsala, Caesar salad and lasagna.

SOUTHINGTON

Craft Kitchen: 

Orders must be placed by 3 p.m. on Saturday for pickups between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. 

The dinner special is $18 per person and includes dinner rolls, a spring berry salad, shrimp and crab cake cocktail, pan-seared chicken Oscar with asparagus, Hollandaise, and picked Maine lobster, scalloped potatoes and pecan pie.

Paul Gregory’s Bistro Cafe: 

The bistro is offering a variety of specials for Mother’s Day, including desserts, cookie decorating kits, brunch, lunch and dinner. They can be picked up Saturday or Sunday for takeout, curbside pickup or for free delivery. 

The Mother’s Day cookie kit includes six sugar cookies, cookie toppings, and icing. You can also get chocolate-covered strawberries for mom. 

Breakfast/brunch is available until 2 p.m. In addition to the full menu, specials include a variety of benedicts, avocado toast and English muffins or homemade biscuits. Breakfast ranges from $12.99 to $24.99. Lunch/dinner specials are available after 2 p.m. and include options for appetizers, salads, main dishes, sides and desserts. Main dishes include white vegetable lasagna, stuffed chicken, veal Oscar, honey garlic salmon, beef tenderloin, and baked stuffed jumbo shrimp. Main dishes are mostly sold per person, for about $10 each. 

Desserts include assorted cupcakes, Italian ricotta cookies, chocolate mousse, lemon tarts, cannoli, and a variety of New York style cheesecakes.

Anthony Jacks Wood
Fired Grill: 

Open from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mother’s Day. Call early to reserve your spot.

Appetizer specials include shrimp and crab cocktail, $13, and garlic parmesan boneless chicken wings, $10. Entrees include mustard maple grilled salmon with herb rice and brussel sprouts, for $24, and penne with shrimp and chicken, artichoke hearts, asparagus and tomatoes in a vodka sauce, $23. The dessert special is carrot cake with a caramel drizzle, for $6.50.

Nataz: 

Orders are being accepted until 6 p.m. on Saturday and must be pre-paid. Pickup will be from 1 to 2 p.m.

Mother’s Day specials include a variety of entrees all served with Nataz signature salad of mixed greens, romaine, adolce gorgonzola, caramelized walnuts, dried walnuts, dried cranberries and balsamic vinaigrette.

Entree options include Chateaubriand (seared and sliced Prime filet mignon with demi glace, brown butter, sugar glazed carrots, and mashed Yukon golds), lobster ravioli, vegetable provencal or primavera, and a European cheese board for two. All are $12.

Dessert options are flourless chocolate cake or limoncello mascarpone sponge cake, $5 each.

CHESHIRE

Vespucci’s Restaurant:

Offering a special menu with a variety of appetizers, salads and party platters. The party platters include pasta, seafood and meat options like sea scallops, lobster ravioli, grilled filet mignon, and eggplant, veal or chicken parmigiana. The full pizza menu and a kids menu are also available.

Viron Rondo Osteria:

Will be serving the full dinner menu from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., plus a few dinner specials for Mother’s Day. 

The specials include a slow roasted prime rib, sea salt dusted short ribs, and a citrus-marinated New Zealand lamb rack.

OTHER

Lyman Orchards:

Mother’s Day brunch can be picked up on Saturday only, from noon until 4 p.m. Dinner can be picked up Sunday from 1 until 3 p.m. To order, call or fill out online form in store, or print it out from the website and drop it off at the store. 

Brunch and dinner options are available, to feed four to six people. Brunch is $29.99 and includes quiche Lorraine, fruit salad, assorted breakfast pastries, cider donut holes and more. Dinner is $79.99, or $89.99 with salmon. Includes choice of braised lamb, roast turkey, smoked brisket or Lyman’s hot smoked salmon with vegetables and other sides like mashed potatoes and salad. Dessert is a choice of Lyman’s Orchard’s apple, strawberry rhubarb or bumbleberry pie.

Amici Tavern: 

Must order by 8 p.m. on Thursday. Orders can be picked-up between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. or delivered for free. 

Brunch includes the choice of breakfast classics like French toast, pancakes, breakfast burrito and fritata with a side of bacon or sausage. Meal includes potato latkes, mixed fruit salad, and chocolate chip cookies for $16.95 per person. 

Add on homemade Bloody Mary mix with or without vodka or mimosa supplies for $10 to $20. 

The restaurant’s full menu will be available Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. as well.

Casa Mia at the Hawthorne:

Open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mother’s Day. Orders must be placed by Thursday. 

Specials include a variety of family style meals, desserts, a la carte entrees, “brunch in a box,” and wines. The “brunch in a box” includes assorted breakfast pastries, Belgian waffles with fruit toppings, vegetable frittata, sausage, applewood bacon and country potato for $50 each, which feeds 2 people. 

Family-style meals include options to feed two people for $30 or six people for $45. Meals include chicken marsala, chicken parmigiana, chicken piccata, eggplant rollatini, pasta with meatballs and risotto. Desserts include mini cannoli or mini cakes. They also offer about a dozen options for salads, appetizers and pasta dishes. Wine bottles start at $7.
