There is nothing like a fabulous charcuterie board, especially when it comes to overflowing seasonal displays of meats, cheese, and fruits. Grazing platters seem so difficult, but with the right ingredients and fillers – they aren’t so hard after all.
To kick off the new school year, I put together a fall inspired charcuterie board for my daughters. They LOVE a good ‘sharcooderdy,’ but I felt the need to step up my game in design.
Here is how to make the perfect fall charcuterie board with a mixture of autumn inspired savory and sweet ingredients.

Charcuterie boards are kid-friendly and can be a fun family activity for the fall. The best way to make a charcuterie board is to listen to your stomach – just make sure to include your favorite autumn flavors. I spent a lot of time Googling ideas for a harvest grazing board and here is what I found to be the most popular ingredients:
Meats (2-3) – Capicola, Proscuitto, Salami
Cheese (3-5) – Gruyere, Sharp Cheddar, Goat Cheese, Brie
Nuts – Pistachios, pumpkin seeds, candied walnuts
Fruit – Apples, pears, figs, dried fruits, berries, grapes
Spreads – Fruit preserves, pumpkin hummus, apple butter, red pepper jelly
Starches – French bread slices, tortilla chips, pita chips, crackers
Others – Chocolate, candy, trail mix, olives, gherkins
Garnishes – Real mini pumpkins, faux leaves, cranberries, fresh herbs
The options for a fall charcuterie are endless, however I think the most important items to include are two fall must haves: pumpkins and/or apples.
Keep in mind that there are no rules – you can create a savory board, a sweet board, or a combination of both!
How to Assemble a Fall Charcuterie Board
When it comes to assembling a charcuterie board, here are a few easy steps to follow.
Choose your board – make sure it’s food friendly!
Place your big items – such as blocks of cheese or sliced meats – around the board.
Add crackers or bread, spreading them out on the board.
Fill small ramekins or bowls with spreads or nuts.
Fill in gaps with fresh and/or dried fruit.
Garnish with edible or faux seasonal decor.
