SOUTHINGTON — Although the official start of fall isn’t until later this month, local coffee shops are already offering popular seasonal flavors.
Perkatory Coffee Roasters in Southington and Middletown released four specials for the month, including annual flavors “The Poison Apple” and “Cinnamon Toast Punch.”
The coffeehouse located in Factory Square, 168 Center St., Suite 108, added the fall specials on the first of the month.
The coffeehouse is also serving hot and cold apple cider and pumpkin flavor for any coffee beverage.
The poison apple and cinnamon toast punch flavors are annual classics.
“They were brought back because they were so popular,” Southington manager Marlea Naples said.
Naples said so far this season “the poison apple” has been most popular.
The poison apple drink is created with apple and vanilla flavors, with a caramel drizzle, eliciting apple pie tastes. The cinnamon toast punch creation combines brown sugar, cinnamon and maple syrup from the Durham Sugarhouse.
Neil’s Donuts in Wallingford also rolled out fall specials, including pumpkin brewed hot and iced coffee, pumpkin cheese muffins, mini pumpkin walnut muffins, and pumpkin glazed cake donuts.
At Cheshire Coffee, most of the fall drink list is available year-round but was officially reintroduced Tuesday.
The coffeehouse said of the many varieties, the pumpkin spice latte, autumn harvest latte, and maple spice latte are most popular. Most of the flavors can be incorporated into any drink.
Other flavor options include caramel apple, French toast, caramel pecan pie, pumpkin caramel, and apple spice or maple spice chai.
