Mother’s Day came up so fast! It’s time to make some reservations! Thinking of taking mom somewhere special this weekend?
Here’s a list of local spots mom would love to go this weekend for her Mother’s Day celebration!
Viron Rondo Osteria — Cheshire
If this isn’t your first thought for Mother’s Day, let me tell you that it should be! With a gorgeous and expansive patio, this is the perfect place to take mom if you are looking for outdoor dining. Enjoy your meal underneath umbrellas and surrounded by gorgeous blooming flowers and plants. Viron Rondo offers generous portions including individual and family sizes.
Viron Rondo offers pastas, salads, pizzas, antipastos, just to name a few. The brussel sprouts and burrata are delicious appetizers to share amongst the family and you can’t go wrong with an Osteria salad. Split a large Chef’s Antipasto Board amongst the whole family and pair with a glass of wine. This board is full of locally grown and sourced meats and cheeses as well as breadsticks, grapes and jam. That is the next thing I want to try for sure!
Mondo Pizza —
Mondo is a place my mom can’t stop talking about. After going there for her birthday, she was hooked, asking if we could go every other weekend. Mondo is a pizzeria also specializing in appetizers and happy hour specials. Going in, I knew the pizza was going to be good because I’ve heard great reviews. The most surprising, however, was the buffalo wings. These wings were both crispy and saucy. They came out steaming and we were drooling with each bite.
This restaurant is reasonably priced with a lowkey environment. Games can be seen on the multiple TV screens around the restaurant. Be sure to also get Mom a drink from the bar. Mondo offers wines, beers and sangrias.
Zohara — West Hartford
Zohara in West Hartford offers Mediterranean cuisine with a menu that is optimal for moms who are looking for a lighter fare and lots of flavor. Share an appetizer of multiple types of hummus. Trust me, you haven’t had hummus until you’ve had it from Zohara. The traditional hummus is so creamy and topped with whole garbanzo beans as well as olive oil and freshly ground spices. Pair it with locally sources vegetables and freshly made pita bread. Options are available for table shares as well as individual salads and bowls.
Your party could also enjoy the Meshta which means feast which is a $69 per guest fee for a taste of a “culinary tour of the best that Zohara has to offer,” according to its menu.
Zohara has options for both indoor and outdoor dining. There is also a glossary on the back to understand the Greek words on the menu to better understand what you are ordering.
