Valentine’s Day has long been known as a chocolates and flowers kind of holiday, but it’s also a great time to celebrate your love with food and a nice night out. If you’re still looking for the perfect place to take your date, we have some ideas. Of course, not everyone loves a night out, so we’ve got some options for those couples looking to stay in or celebrate with some sweets instead. 

Date Night: 

1.Laskara Restaurant

Laskara has a special menu for Valentine’s Day dinner dates, including a variety of appetizers and special entrees that come with family-style salad, bread and butter. 

The appetizers include brussel sprouts with gorgonzola cream sauce, fried calamari, lobster bisque, shrimp cocktail, and pesto Caprese flatbread. 

For entrees, there’s a heart-shaped lobster ravioli dish with wild mushrooms and asparagus in a cream sherry sauce; Dijon panko crusted salmon with a  lemon cream sauce and asparagus, and Paidakia, a rack of lamb sliced and marinated with a lemon herb oregano sauce with mashed potatoes and vegetables. 

Other entrees include prime rib, swordfish mystic, filet mignon carpetbagger, and chicken Mediterranean. 

For dessert, manager Maria Riopel said diners will get a special complimentary surprise dessert but will also have the regular dessert menu to choose from. 

Riopel said they see about 150 people on Valentine's Day and recommended making reservations in advance.

2.Craft Kitchen

Craft Kitchen’s special Valentine’s Day menu is extensive, with several options for soups, salads, appetizers, entrees and housemade desserts. 

Some of the entrees include a grilled “Snake River Farm” Wagyu NY Strip with a sweet potato-chorizo hash and sunny side up egg; a housemade lobster ravioli with stracciatella, Maine lobster and mild mushroom truffle cream, and a heart-shaped shrimp casino pizza with spinach, pesto, bacon, garlic, tomato, caramelized onion and Peruvian pearl pepper. 

Desserts include a Grand Marnier flourless chocolate ganache torte, New York style chocolate raspberry cheesecake, apple fritters, and warm apple cranberry bread pudding sundae.

3.Taino Smokehouse Prime

Taino’s special Valentine’s Day menu is priced at $75 per couple.

The meal includes a watercress and frisée salad with orange, radish, strawberry dressing; an American Waygu filet, Danish Blue cheese, whipped potatoes, grilled asparagus and Demi glace; and for dessert, chocolate flourless torte and raspberry coulis.

4.The Library Bar and Bistro

The Library’s limited Valentine’s Day menu features a variety of tapas to start- like crab cakes, fried calamari, steamed mussels, eggplant Caprese, and lobster bisque. 

All the entrees are served with salad. You can get butter-basted filet mignon, roasted salmon, paella a Valenciana, sauteed sea scallops and shrimp tossed with linguini, and more. 

Desserts include chocolate-covered strawberries and truffles, plus the restaurant’s regular dessert menu.

5.Paul Gregory’s Bistro Cafe

For the holiday, Paul Gregory’s has a special menu for two, including the choice of two appetizers, first course, entree and one dessert for $90 a couple. The bistro is BYOB. 

Appetizer options include stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, and spinach and artichoke dip with freshly baked pita chips. 

The first course features dishes like a crock of French onion soup with French baguette and salad options, all served with buttery garlic knots. 

For an entree, choose from filet mignon with baked stuffed shrimp, chicken piccata, or baked stuffed shrimp, all of which come with mashed potatoes and a zucchini, squash and carrot medley. 

Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available by request. 

Dessert includes chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries or creme brulee. Each comes with a complimentary chocolate-covered strawberry.

1.Perfectly Prepared, Gourmet to Go

Perfectly Prepared offers gourmet foods to grab and take up, heat up, and eat right away. It’s special Valentine’s Day dinner menu needs to be ordered by Feb. 11 at 4 p.m.

The $49.99 meal offers a choice between grilled filet medallions over a bed of asparagus, with roasted fingerling potatoes and an artichoke hash, Chilean sea bass with champagne lobster risotto, or quinoa and winter vegetables stuffed poblano. 

Customers can choose from the Perfect Salad or Caprese Salad and each entree comes with a strawberry parfait or chocolate torte cake.

Sweet treats: 

1.Sweet Cioccolata, Wallingford

The chocolate shop sells thousands of freshly dipped chocolate-covered strawberries on Valentine's Day and the day before. Pre-ordering is available for the strawberries, which can be covered in white, milk or dark chocolate.

2.Sassy Mama Sweets

Sassy Mama Sweets is offering candy-heart themed cookies for pre-order. You can order them with classic candy-heart sayings like “call me” and “be mine” or more sassy sayings like “sorry not sorry” and “in ur dreams.” The cookies are also customizable. 

Orders must be made by Feb. 12, either by calling the bakery or messaging them on Facebook.

3.Mr. D’s 

Mr. D’s is taking Valentine's Day pre-orders until noon on Feb. 12. 

You can choose from their special menu of bakery cakes, ice cream cakes, cupcakes, chocolate-covered strawberries, and dessert platters. 

The bakery cakes come as heart-shaped two-layer cakes, in chocolate or red velvet, starting at $39.99. The ice cream cakes start at the same price and come heart-shaped as well. 

For cupcakes, you can either get chocolate cherry brownie cupcakes or their festive holiday-themed cupcakes available in chocolate, red velvet and vanilla. Gluten-free and vegan cupcakes are also available by pre-order. 

Chocolate strawberries come for $24.99 a dozen and dessert platters can be a chosen assortment of dessert bars, cookies, mini cupcakes and gourmet chocolates.

4.New England Muffin Factory 

In addition to its regular selection of muffins, the shop is also offering chocolate-covered strawberries for pre-order. 

Some of the muffin flavors currently available include red velvet, red velvet cheesecake, raspberry mocha, cranberry orange nut, and lemon coconut.

5.Kerri’s Sweet Creations
