Barnes Museum September Events



The Barnes Museum has announced its new events for September. Registration is required on our website thebarnesmuseum.org/calendar.

Join us on Sept. 6, at Kinsmen Brewing for History Pints from 7 to 9 p.m.

History Pints is a captivating and immersive historical program that delves into the fascinating legacy of the Clark Brothers Bolt Factory and the surrounding community of Milldale. Learn about the pivotal role the factory played in shaping the region’s growth and prosperity, and how its innovations contributed to the development of Milldale as a vital industrial center. Must be 21+ to attend. ID will be checked at door. Program is located in Clark Hall inside Kinsmen Brewing 409 Canal St., Plantsville. This event is free and open to the public. $10 donation suggested.

On Saturday, Sept. 9 and 23, join us for our Downtown Southington Historic Walking Tour from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Starting at the Barnes Museum, this guided tour takes place on North Main Street from Merrell Avenue to slightly past Berlin Avenue. Learn the history of some of the buildings and monuments along the way through the eyes of the Bradley, Barnes, and adjacent family members. Some attractions include the Town Green monuments, First Congregational Church, Town Hall, The Elks Club, etc.

Registration is required on our website. This event is free! $10 donation suggested.

Escapism Productions is excited to partner with the Barnes Museum to create an original historical drama set in the early 20th century, and greatly influenced by the spiritualism of the era. Come and explore the House and the story in this unique production. We are waiting for you to escape with us. Registration required. Join us on Sept. 22, 23, 29, and 30, for EX TENEBRIS. This performance takes place in the early 20th century as you join the fictional guests of the Royce household. Registration is required and tickets are $45 per person. Movie Night on the Lawn is BACK and better than ever! Join us on the grounds for a screening of "Some Like it Hot" starring Marilyn Monroe on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Gates open at 8:30 p.m. The screening will begin around 9 p.m. Bring a blanket, chair, and anything else you need for a cozy night on the lawn. We recommend ordering takeout from nearby restaurants, including Masago Sushi, less than 500 ft from the museum grounds. Tickets are $5 at the door. Registration is not required.
