Meriden Mentee Wins $5,000 Big Brothers Big Sisters Scholarship

Marc Bishop, from Meriden, is one of four state recipients of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America $5,000 Youth, Equity and Empowerment Scholarship – with support from the Deloitte Foundation.

Marc is a senior at Orville Platt High School. After graduation, he’s planning on attending a four-year college where he can study for a career in medicine, or a business-focused discipline. Active in the youth program at his church, Marc is also a three-sport athlete (football, track, and wrestling). He cites his mom, Veronica, as his prime motivator.

Since 2018, Marc has been a Little Brother (mentee) in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut community-based mentoring program. His Big Brother (mentor) in the program is Joe Padilla, a broadcast engineer at ESPN who lives in Bristol.
