Farmers Market Storytime

Fridays, Sept. 22 and 29 at 4 p.m. Southington Town Green

Kids of all ages, and their favorite adults, are invited to join us at the Farmers Market on the Southington Town Green each Friday for some fun, fresh, and fairly silly stories.

Together we’ll read, sing, and dance our way through the afternoon with a fresh batch of fun.

No registration is required for this drop in-program.

Bring your own blanket, as we will likely be in the grass on the Green.

In the event of rain, storytime will be held at the Southington Public Library. Give us a call at 860-628-0947 ext. 3 for more information.

Two-gether Tales

Mondays at 9:30 or 10:30 a.m. Southington Public Library

Two-gether Tales is a storytime intended for 2 and 3 year olds, with their favorite adult and siblings.It is planned for Mondays 9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. This storytime meets Sept. 18, 25, and Oct. 2.

Though this class meets on each date twice, children may only register and attend one time slot.

Once you have signed up, your child is registered for all 4 classes. 

To sign up, stop at the Children’s Services Desk, or go to the online calendar, find the first day of the class you wish to register for, and click the register button. Register each child separately.

Read, Rock and Rhyme

Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Southington Public Library

Read, Rock and Rhyme is a storytime intended for 0 to 23 month olds, with their favorite adult and siblings. It takes place Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. This storytime meets on Sept. 19, 26, and Oct. 3.

Once you have signed up, your child is registered for all 4 classes. 

To sign up, stop at the Children’s Services Desk, or go to the online calendar, and click the register button. Register each child separately.

Budding Bookworms

Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Southington Public Library

Budding Bookworms is a storytime intended for 3.5, 4 and 5 year olds. It takes place Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Children must be ready to attend this class independently while caregivers remain in the library.

This storytime meets on Sept. 26, and Oct. 3. Once you have signed up, your child is registered for all 4 classes.

Crochet Club

Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. Southington Public Library Children 10-14 can join Miss Jasmine during Crochet Club to learn crochet basics, learn to read patterns, work on projects together, and discuss the process of making and selling crochet items.

Already crochet? Come and join the fun!

The Crochet Club will take place every Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. beginning Sept. 18 until the end of the school year. We will revisit the date and time when summer starts!

No one is required to stay the full two hours! These hours just opens it up to those with other activities going on. Hope to see you there!

Weather Wednesday: Painted Apple Basket

Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Southington Public Library.

Children ages 18 months-4 years can get their hands messy with Ms. Sarah with a fun Painted

Apple Basket Craft! *Allergy Alert-we will be using real apples*  Join us for our monthly in-person Weather Wednesday program where a weather/seasonal-themed craft is made.

Between the Lines - Registration Open

Sept. 21, at 9 a.m. at   the Southington Public Library. Children ages 8 to 12 can join Miss Molly for a book discussion, games, and activities all related to a new book each month - this month, we will be reading Garlic and the Vampire by Bree Paulsen.

Register and pick up a copy of the book at the Children’s desk any time during our open hours, starting Thursday, Sept. 21.

For more information, call us at 860-628-0947 ext. 3, or stop by the Children’s desk. While you don’t have to read the book, you’ll have more fun if you do.

Registration begins on Thursday, Sept. 21. The program will take place Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. 

Paper Flower Kit

Thursday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Southington Public Library. (Virtual)

Children ages 6-12 years can join Miss Carlye in creating a Paper Flower! RSVP and then call us at 860-628-0947 ext. 3 to schedule a pick-up time! The corresponding video will air on theSouthington Kids’ Place Facebook Page and the Southington Public Library Youtube page at 11 a.m. on Sept. 21.

Registration opens ONE WEEK before the program date on Sept. 14. If registration is full, or if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call. If you do not pick up your craft kit by the end of Sept. 21, your unclaimed kit will be given to the next child on the waitlist.

Character Craft: Pigeon

Wednesday, Sept. 27, 11 a.m. at the Southington Public Library (Virtual)

Children ages 18 months to 4 years old can enjoy a song, an age-appropriate craft, some activities, and a book or two from your favorite book characters with Ms. Sarah, all from the comfort of your own home! Our character for the Sept. program is Pigeon! Supplies are limited and registration is required. RSVP and then call us to schedule a pick-up time for your kit! Registration opens Sept. 20. The accompanying storytime video will go live on Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. on the Southington Kids’ Place Facebook and the Southington Library YouTube page, and will remain available indefinitely following the scheduled premiere time. Sloth-Palooza

Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 5:30 p.m. Southington Public Library

Children ages 5-10 years can join Miss Carlye in reading about sloths and making their own tree-dwelling sloth to take home on Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration opens one week before the program date, on Sept. 19. The event will be marked as full until the registration opens.
