YMCA LIVESTRONG Partners With Hartford HealthCare

Unsure where to start your journey from cancer recovery? Start here at the Cheshire YMCA LIVESTRONG program. Medical studies have shown that moderate levels of appropriate physical activity can reduce fatigue, boost self-esteem and improve muscle strength and physical endurance in individuals following cancer treatment. Cancer survivors themselves are increasingly aware of the positive impact that moderate physical activity and supportive relationships can have on their quality of life. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA has helped thousands of cancer survivors move beyond cancer in spirit, mind, and body.

“LIVESTRONG at the YMCA has made an incredible difference in my recovery from breast cancer,” said Michelle, Huntington, NY.

This 12-week program meets twice a week for 90 minutes free of charge thanks to generous donor contributions. Registration is open until Monday, Oct. 18. Classes begin on Tuesday, Oct. 19 and Thursday, Oct. 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. As a bonus, participants receive a free 3-month YMCA family membership. The YMCA provides trained instructors, the facility and equipment.

In 2008 the YMCA partnered with LIVESTRONG to help cancer survivors begin recovery with LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program in partnership with Hartford HealthCare.
