Meriden Poet: My Lost Summer

Tripped in my own home; broken bone upper arm

Boy oh boy did I ever do myself harm!

Was my right arm and I am right handed to!

Had to live at a “therapy” place; hard to do.

Many times wished I could walk right out the door

Was there for little over two months and more

Was going down hill but starting to go up

Been eating breakfast, lunch and supper

Come morning I’d wash up, dress, brush teeth, comb hair

Besides therapy four or five times a week I’d sit on my chair

I’d red books, watch some TV talk on the phone

I often felt so terrible alone.

I had company but not every day and they can’t stay

Finely, finely I’m going to go home they say!

Will need therapy at home but that’s ok!
