Meriden Poet:  SUMMER TIME FROM MY PERCH

Meriden Poet:  SUMMER TIME FROM MY PERCH

The tinkle of wind chimes nudged by a breeze,

The shade of branches under old oak trees

The scent of fresh air after a summer shower,

The beauty seen in a blooming flower

The melody heard as a song bird sings,

The flutter of dainty butterfly wings

The antics of chipmonks running here and there,

playing tag  in my garden without a care

The peacefulness of a powder blue sky,

The mystery of cotton clouds drifting by

The warm embrace from the sun high above,

These soothing scenes nourish my summer time love.

Elaine MacMullen, Meriden
