Our Team has one of the most extensive volunteer programs in the region. As a volunteer we offer you:
■Visiting opportunities throughout the state that can be tailored to your area of preference.■ Monthly education and support opportunities.■ The opportunity to be part of a committed group of volunteers who are appreciated and well supported.
There is a place for you that will fit your needs. Opportunities include:
■ Visiting homes and/or facilities to offer companionship for patients and respite for caregivers.■ Providing activities such as reading, singing and playing music.■ Offering massages and reiki sessions.■ Coordinating certified pet therapy teams.■ Providing emotional support, companionship, bereavement, veteran and vigil support when needed.■ Offering administrative support.
The team is planning a series of trainings in the fall to prepare prospective volunteers with classes on the history and mission of hospice, care and comfort of the dying, spirituality, grief and bereavement, and other necessary topics to enable you to safely provide care to patients at end of life. After the training we will start the on-boarding process.
