The Old Gent

The Old Gent

Relaxing, on the deck, in his rustic Adirondack chair
perusing the property of his neighborhood lair
Vehicles whizzing past, heading hither and yon
he’s curious as to their destinations, perhaps it’s downtown
He grabs his KINDLE - for a bit of a read
a mystery-thriller, satisfying his literary needs
He yearns for a cigar, choosing a Cuban Toro,
its smoke, mellow, mild, enhancing his aura
The wind picking up, hanging chimes are a’ringing
Soon it’ll be summer - he enjoys their dinging
As evening sneaks in, sun sets in the West
He’s enjoyed the peace & solitude, his psyche at restThe air now cooler, he gathers his kit
as daylight fades, time for his exit
The screened-in patio, his next destination
He looks forward to a Happy Hour adult libation
On the morrow, weather predicted to be frightful
He muses, “You know, it can’t always be this delightful!”
