The Wallingford Invitational Soccer Tournament Announces the 2023 scholarship award recipients. All proceeds from TWIST go to support the TWIST scholarship fund and Wallingford Soccer Club field fund. With this year’s awards TWIST has now awarded over $216,000 in scholarships. Criteria includes club participation as a player, referee, coach, or TWIST, community service, and GPA.
Olivia Platt, from Sheehan High School, is the recipient of 2023 William Cahoon Award of Excellence. Olivia is a 14 year WSC as a player, T.O.P.S. volunteer, field prep crew, and TWIST registration check-in volunteer. Academically, she is a National Honor Society member, Varsity Scholar, Rotary Citizen of the Year, and an All SCC Academic All-Star team member for soccer and track (3yrs). Olivia will pursue a degree in the field of Medicine at UConn.
Sydney Cuticelli, from Sheehan High School, started with the WSC at age 3 and won a State Championship with her Wallingford Wolves teammates 12 years later. She has achieved Academic High Honors (4yrs), SCC All Academic Team (4yrs), and Varsity Scholar for 2023. She is a Student Council, DECA, CREW, and other outdoor clubs. Athletically, she is a two sport member of both the girls’ soccer and tennis teams. Sydney will pursue a degree in Biochemical Engineering at Union College.
Kieran Liu, from Sheehan High School, 11 year WSC player & volunteer. He is ranked #2 in a senior class. He attended the West Point Summer Leadership Experience and achieved high honors all 4 years and All SCC Academic Team. Kieran served as team captain in both soccer and track-n-field. Kieran will pursue a degree psychology at Quinnipiac, Monmouth, UConn or Yale.
