Sheehan Students Named SCC Scholar Leaders



Congratulations are extended to Sheehan seniors Andrew Carey and Clarisse Aminawung, recipients of the 2021 Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) Scholar-Leader Award.

Clarisse Aminawung is an exceptional and talented young woman, in and out of the classroom setting.

Ranked in the top 10 of her class, Clarisse holds an impressive GPA of 4.1. Her transcript reflects straight A’s in each of her high school years and coursework in many advanced classes including an impressive number of AP courses.

Clarisse has earned school certificates of achievement from many teachers honoring her commitment to academic excellence. Additionally, she has earned the Seal of Biliteracy Certificate for her proficiency in the Spanish language. Clarisse is meticulous with her work and has a passion for learning.

Clarisse is also a poised natural leader. She has served as a class officer and the activities chairperson for four years. Additionally, she is a Student Council representative, member of Peer Advocates, and the Spanish Club Co-President. She takes pride in immersing herself in our school and bettering the Wallingford community.

Clarisse’s talents and leadership shine as a dedicated member of the girls soccer team as well as the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Clarisse has been an athletic leader and role model to her peers, serving as one of the captains of these teams, even as a junior, which speaks highly to her exceptional leadership and maturity. Clarisse plans to attend Southern CT State University in the fall and is interested in pursuing a field of study in medicine to pursue a career as a pediatrician.

Andrew Carey is a talented and driven young man whose contributions and accomplishments have positively impacted our school community. Andrew is in the top three percent of his class with GPA of 4.0. Andrew has proven that he is academically ready to challenge himself at the collegiate level. He has already taken numerous college courses through our ECE and AP courses which will provide him with a jump on his post-secondary academic studies. Andrew’s intelligence and drive are characteristics that continue to impress his teachers. Most importantly, Andrew is a kind and caring young man of great character.

Andrew has immersed himself in many extracurricular activities over the past several years. He is a varsity baseball and soccer player and a leader to his peers, serving as a captain on both teams. Andrew is also a Drum Major for our school’s competitive marching band, performing in games and competitions.

During junior year, he was selected as a member of the National Honor Society and in his senior year, serves as President of this distinguished organization. Andrew is also a member of clubs that contribute positively to our school and community including the Positive Impact Club, Mock Trial, Spanish Club, Jazz Band and many others. We are honored to have Andrew Carey recognized as an SCC Scholar Leader. Andrew plans to attend college in the fall and is interested in pursuing the Pre-Medical/BioMedical Engineering field.
