Just because Spring Break is set to look different than usual don’t let it stop you from creating an amazing staycation for you and your family. While Connecticut has so many incredible attractions to explore, here are a few of my favorite family-friendly recommendations:
The Connecticut Science Center - Hartford, CT
This is the place for inquisitive minds. The Connecticut Science Center offers six levels of interactive fun for all ages! With exhibits ranging from electric to earthy, musical to intergalactic, the little ones are bound to be star-struck.
Putters Paradise Mini Golf - Berlin, CT
The name of this spot can be misleading as Putter’s Paradise offers much more than a mini-golf experience. While they do have 18 vibrant (and tricky) holes to putt your way through, they also offer batting cages and go-karts. With a range of activities to choose from, there’s a little bit of something for everyone here.
Bradley Mountain Farm - Southington, CT
If your family is a bit more on the rustic side, this is the place for you! From goats in pajamas to make-and-take your own soap events, this two hundred-plus-year-old dairy farm is ready to host your family this spring. Make sure to stop into the gift shop featuring handmade goods and farm fresh produce.
Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo - Bridgeport, CT
More for the animal lovers. The Beardsley Zoo mission statement embodies a passion for “education, conservation, research and recreation,” and those values can be experienced throughout the expansive property. If you’re looking to take a carousel ride, visit tigers, and stroll through an endangered plant greenhouse all in one day, the Beardsley Zoo’s got you covered!
PEZ Visitor Center - Orange, CT
For a day that’s on the sweet side, make the trip to Orange! The PEZ Visitor Center is home to a PEZ museum featuring vintage candy memorabilia, fun-facts and historical information. Additionally, the property hosts an eye-catching gift shop where guests can pick up some zany and unique merchandise. Take a walk down memory lane as the museum explores PEZ pop culture and details just how the satisfying confection sweetened up countless childhoods over the years.
Nature’s Art Village - Oakdale, CT
The term “village” is more than just a cute name. This eclectic recommendation is an immersive experience spanning multiple buildings! Here your family can mine for gold in rushing waters and unearth gems in the mines. For a less hands-on experience, marvel at the life-sized dinosaurs reigning in the nature trails, or take a walk through a hall of interactive American history dioramas. This truly is a one-stop-shop for an action-packed day of family fun.
However you decide to spend the break, as long as it’s spent with the ones you love, you know it can’t be beat! Keep these destinations in mind as we draw closer to warmer and brighter days.
