Local blogger recommends 4 places for water rentals

In the height of summer, New Englanders are looking to beat the heat! If you’re looking for aquatic activity ideas to make your summer a splash, check out these water rental spots all within a thirty minute drive from central Connecticut.

Brownstone Adventure Sports Park, 311 Brownstone Ave, Portland

While this outdoor adventure quarry-turned-park is typically known for its ziplines and giant interactive inflatables, Brownstone Adventure Sports Park also has a variety of person-powered water rentals. Kayaking, paddleboarding, and wakeboarding are the options for guests to enjoy if they want to add on extra activities not included with their park pass.

AquaventuresCT, 684 Tryon St, South Glastonbury

This family-owned business launched in early summer 2021 and has already made a splash within the central Connecticut community. Featured on Yelp Connecticut’s Instagram page with a glowing review, AquaventuresCT offers a low-stakes experience for experts, learners, and those in between who are looking for an outdoor adventure on the Connecticut River. Visitors can choose to rent kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and paddle boats.

Savin Rock Surf Shop, 266 Captain Thomas Blvd, West Haven

The West Haven beaches are known to many as a staple of the city’s identity, but remain unknown to some. Similar to the beaches, Savin Rock Surf Shop is a hidden gem tucked right off the shore of Savin Rock Park. The shop offers paddleboard, kayak, and bicycle rentals, along with a plethora of beach item rentals for those last-minute beach goers who may find themselves without an umbrella or cooler. Aside from featuring a wide variety of beach items for both rental and purchase, Savin Rock Surf Shop also takes pride in its various local artist collections. To shop local and enjoy good vibes, stop into Savin Rock Surf Shop!

Scoot & Paddle,  28 Naugatuck Ave, Milford

If you’re visiting Walnut Beach, exploring all that Scoot & Paddle has to offer is an absolute must! Even before considering rental options, take a stroll through the charming shop to check out apparel, beach essentials, and eclectic tchotchkes. The knowledgeable and friendly staff will go above and beyond to assist any visitors both in the store or on the waves. As for rentals, Scoot & Paddle offers typical toys, (kayaks, scooters, paddleboards, wakeboards, boogie boards, etc.) beach essentials, (chairs, umbrellas, cabanas, etc.) and some more unique pieces, including the Original Aqua Lily Pad, cornhole game boards and more!
