MERIDEN — Local entrepreneurs and startups can now sell their ideas to a captive audience and win cash prizes at a Startup Business Pitch competition and networking event on June 22.
The event is sponsored by the Midstate Chamber of Commerce, the Meriden Economic Development Corp., the city of Meriden and CTNext. It runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at Il Monticello restaurant, 577 S. Broad St.
Five startup business candidates will get the chance to pitch their ideas for 5 to 10 minutes each. Attendees will vote on their favorite ideas and winners will receive cash prizes of $1,000, $3,000, and $5,000.
Businesses invited to participate must be in the initial stages of formation or operations and seeking capital. Businesses must have been formed in Connecticut through the Secretary of the State between May 20, 2019 and May 20, 2022 and must not have had gross revenue over $1 million in any rolling 12-month period.
Participants are asked to register before June 8. The contest runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on June 22. Light fare will be provided.
