MERIDEN – One person was injured in a crash on Broad Street Thursday morning.
A Honda Odyssey was coming to a stop behind a tractor-trailer stopped at a red light on Broad Street when it was struck from behind by a Honda Pilot traveling at a high rate of speed, said Lt. Thomas Cossette. The Odyssey was pushed three to four feet underneath the trailer and the driver ended up in the backseat. After firefighters removed him, the man was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with possible injuries to his neck, back and leg.
The incident occurred around 10:55 a.m.
Cossette said the driver of the Pilot, who did not report any injuries, is expected to be charged with reckless driving. Police are obtaining video from surrounding businesses and will collect data from the vehicles.
