The Summer Campership Fund for Meriden-Wallingford finished the second week at $16,642, with new donations totaling $12,452.50. Recent gifts were from Robert G. Dwyer “In memory of Marguerite T. Dwyer”, $5,600; Fosdick Corporation, $5,000; Carolyn MacDuff “In memory of Robert MacDuff”, $140; John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, $425; Casimir Pulaski School Cheer Fund, $67.50; Paul Moquin, $520; Linda and Michael Levenduski, $140; David and Elizabeth Leigh, $280; Michael and Shelley Barker, $280.
The fund is in its 44th year offering campership awards of $140 to boys and girls in Meriden and Wallingford to attend local camps. Participating camps are Boys & Girls Club of Meriden, Meriden YMCA, Girls Inc., Wallingford YMCA, the Salvation Army, and the Ulbrich Boys and Girls Club.
This year’s goal is $65,000 in order to fund 500 camperships. One hundred percent of the funds raised are used directly to fund camperships. Last year, $66,437 was raised to award 500 camperships to attend two week sessions at the local camps.
Applications for campership awards have been distributed in Meriden and Wallingford schools. Applications and proof of family income must be brought to the camp office of choice. Families applying must submit a DSS budget sheet or a completed 2018 income tax form. For more information, contact Meriden Health and Human Services at www.meridenhealth.com .
