MERIDEN — A fire damaged the second-floor of a house Sunday night.

There were no reported injuries.

The fire at 1 Kirtland Place was reported shortly before 6 p.m.  Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Dunn said the blaze was extinguished in about 15 to 20 minutes in large part because fire crews returning from another incident nearby quickly responded.

“The quick actions here saved this house,” he said.

Firefighters from Berlin provided mutual aid coverage, while Meriden crews responded to the incident. East Main Street was closed between Center Street and Elm Street for about an hour.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
