MERIDEN — The annual Festival of Silver Lights at Hubbard Park will feature a new addition this Friday, with the park hosting its first “Holiday Party in the Park.”

The family friendly event, which runs Friday Dec. 13, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., will feature a small fire pit for roasting marshmallows along with free refreshments and entertainment. Santa Claus will also make a visit to greet families and take photos.

Families can also walk through the park, and view the various light displays illuminated by approximately 350,000 white lights.

Meriden Parks & Recreation Director Chris Bourdon is hoping the event will attract a large crowd.

The new event is a variation of other events the Parks & Recreation Department has held in the past at Hubbard Park.

Bourdon is also hopeful some of the recent snowfall doesn't completely melt by Friday.

“The snow enhances the (light) display,” he said.
