Youth bicyclist seriously injured in crash with SUV in Meriden



MERIDEN — A juvenile riding a bicycle was seriously injured in a collision involving a motor vehicle on Sunday afternoon.

Meriden Police responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of Oregon Road and Brownstone Ridge at about 3:20 p.m.

Police said a 2017 Toyota Highlander SUV was traveling south on Oregon Road and the juvenile riding a bicycle was traveling east on Brownstone Ridge. The Toyota Highlander and the bicyclist collided at the intersection of Oregon Road and Brownstone Ridge.

Meriden firefighters and Hunter’s Ambulance treated the bicyclist on scene before the juvenile was taken to an area hospital by LifeStar Helicopter for further medical treatment, according to police.

The three occupants of the Toyota Highlander did not require medical treatment and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.
