MERIDEN — The Record-Journal board of directors recently approved the promotion of Executive Vice President Liz White Notarangelo to publisher.

White Notarangelo, who also currently serves as assistant publisher, is the fifth generation of publishers from the White family to lead the Record-Journal over its 127 years. The change will go in to effect on Jan. 1, 2020.

“This is a major step in our business and family succession plan,” said Eliot White, current publisher of the Record-Journal and Liz White Notarangelo’s father. “Liz has a strong combination of education, experience and industry knowledge that she has developed over the last 18 years.”

After Jan. 1, 2020, Eliot White will continue as president of the Record-Journal and chairman of the board and will have operational oversight of the news and finance departments. As publisher, Liz White Notarangelo will be responsible for all other areas of the company and will continue as publisher of The Cheshire Herald and managing director of Homebase Digital.

“It is such an honor to carry on the family tradition,” she said. “I've grown up in our business and in the media industry, always knowing that this was what I wanted to do. I love this company and I love working on our strategies for our future every day.”

She looks forward to many more years working in the family business with her father.

“It is also a privilege to work with the amazing and dedicated team at the Record-Journal,” she said. “We are continuously evolving and innovating, which makes work exciting and rewarding for me every day.”

In addition to leading the Record-Journal and Homebase Digital, White Notarangelo is also the chairwoman of the Local Media Association’s foundation board, a prominent national industry organization.

She works directly with industry leaders on innovative and cutting-edge strategies to help evolve the media industry and the Record-Journal.
