MERIDEN — Local attorney Thomas J. Welsh, president of the Meriden Economic Development Corp., was recently appointed general counsel of Nippon Steel & Sumikin Bussan Americas Inc., according to a press release from the law firm Updike, Kelly & Spellacy.
The appointment was made by the officers and directors of Updike, Kelly, & Spellacy, where Welsh is a principal attorney.
NSBA is a trading company dealing with ferrous and non-ferrous metals, food and machinery and equipment. It has headquarters in Chicago and offices in Pittsburgh, Houston, the Los Angeles area and Mexico City along with joint ventures and facilities throughout the United States and Mexico, the company said.
Welsh is recognized for his work in commercial law and finance and other business law matters. He will continue to supervise matters and serve UKS clients from its offices in Connecticut.
