MERIDEN — A local man was charged Tuesday with shooting someone in the hip in an incident at The Red Roof Inn last September, police said.

Calvin Fassett, 20, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal possession of a firearm.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Inn, 10 Bee St., just before 11 p.m. on Sept. 1. The victim was another man who was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment. His wound was not life-threatening, police have said.

Fassett is being held on a $100,000 bail, police said.
