MERIDEN — A local car dealership was severely damaged by fire early Saturday.

There were no reported injuries.

Fire officials responded to a report of smoke in the area around midnight at the Five Star Cars dealership, 1801 N. Broad St.

When firefighters arrived, the showroom was on fire. The fire was put out by 2 a.m. Saturday and firefighters remained on scene until early Saturday morning. The roof of the showroom collapsed and several cars in the front of the building were damaged or completely destroyed.
