Meriden fire crews respond to shed fire on Old Colony Road

MERIDEN — Fire crews responded to a shed fire Thursday morning on Old Colony Road.

Fire crews responded to the area of 1150 Old Colony Rd. at around 9 a.m. for a shed fire reported by a passerby. Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Dunn said firefighters arrived at a vacant shed at the rear of a property. The shed was very close to nearby railroad tracks and the fire had spread to a grassy area.

Dunn said Amtrak was called and trains were temporarily stopped because of the proximity of the fire. The trains were running again as of 9:30 a.m.

The owner of the property was not known and no injuries were reported.

The scene is under investigation by the fire marshal.
