No injuries were reported.
Officers dispatched to the mall, 470 Lewis Ave, at around 11:50 a.m. learned that one car had been chasing another vehicle in the parking lot when one of the occupants fired multiple gunshots, Sgt. Darrin McKay said in a news release.
McKay said it was unknown if the vehicle was struck by the gunfire.
“At the time of this release, we have had no reports of any victims,” McKay wrote. He described the case as “active” — urging anyone with information to contact Meriden police detectives at 203-630-8318. Callers can also use the Meriden Police Major Crimes Tips Line at 203-630-6253.
The mall report occurred the day after an incident of gunfire on North George Street. Three unoccupied vehicles were struck by bullets in that incident.
