Meriden police investigating armed robbery at local bank



MERIDEN — Police are investigating an armed robbery at Liberty Bank on East Main Street Wednesday morning.

The suspect entered the bank, 852 E. Main St., around 10 a.m. He was armed and demanded money from a clerk, Sgt. Michael Boothroyd said in a statement. Police did not say what type of weapon was used.

The suspect fled on foot. There were no injuries reported. Nearby Maloney High School was placed “on alert for safety purposes,” Boothroyd said.
