MERIDEN — Police are investigating after a man robbed the People’s United Bank inside Stop and Shop on Thursday.
Police responded to People’s Bank, 485 Broad St., around 3:19 p.m. Thursday after receiving a hold up alarm from the business, according to police reports. Officers investigating were told a man was talking on a phone, walked up and wrote a noted demanding money, the report said.
The man fled with an undetermined amount of money, Sgt. Michael Boothroyd said Friday. No weapons were used and there were no injuries. The man was described as being in his 50’s, about five feet, eight inches tall, between 180 to 200 pounds and was wearing a black hat, white surgical mask, a yellow traffic vest, jeans and black boots. He left headed toward Broad Street, the report said.
