MERIDEN — Twenty years ago this month saw an addition getting started on the Meriden Boys & Girls Club, construction of Edison School, draining of New Dam Pond and graduation season.

The Westfield Meriden mall had crews working diligently ahead of schedule on an addition including Lord & Taylor and the parking garage next to Sears.

A pair of brothers worked diligently to try and move as many fish as they could from the draining New Dam Pond ahead of a $1.2 million restoration project. They would  relocate the fish they caught to Black Pond.

On June 21, 1999, officials gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony for a $1.6 million addition to the Boys & Girls Club.

The city also celebrated its graduates from Malone, Platt and Wilcox Technical high schools in June.
