Police: Man and woman charged after reported fight outside Meriden grocery store



MERIDEN — A man and woman face charges after police said they received calls about the couple fighting in the parking lot of Stop & Shop on Monday. 

Jeffrey Riccitelli, 40, of 42 Parker Ave., was charged with third-degree assault, violation of a protective order, third-degree strangulation and second-degree breach of peace. 

Kristal Schultz, 37, of 42 Parker Ave., was charged with third-degree assault, violation of a protective order, and second-degree breach of peace. 

On Monday around 6:45 p.m. police responded to Stop & Shop, 485 Broad St., for a report of a man punching a woman on the ground, according to a  police report. Police eventually found the couple on Parker Avenue. 

Witnesses reported they saw the man punching the woman, the report said. Another witness told police he saw the woman shove the man against a wall and punch him, the report said.

Schultz and Riccitelli were arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Tuesday. The judge set bond for Schultz at $7,500 and continued the case to Dec. 12. The judge set bond for Riccitelli at $75,000 and continued the case to Dec. 13.
