MERIDEN — A local man faces charges after police said he assaulted and choked a woman during a reported domestic dispute early Friday.
Christopher Negron, 22, of 5 Hillside Ave., was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, violation of a protective order, and disorderly conduct.
Police responded to the home on Hillside Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Friday. A woman told police she got into a dispute with Negron and he choked her and pushed her to the ground, according to a police report. There were four children sleeping in the home at the time of the incident.
Negron told police he pushed the woman in the face, the report said. There was an active protective order at the time.
He was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Friday. According to statements in court, Negron has four pending cases for domestic violence related charges. The judge set bond at $35,000 and continued the case to Jan. 9.
