MERIDEN — A man faces charges after police said they found a revolver and heroin in a car last month.
Kenny Cotto, 23, no address listed, was charged Nov. 17 with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory and various motor vehicle violations.
On Nov. 17 around 2:30 p.m. police witnessed what they believed was a drug sale involving a parked car in the Howe Street area, according to a police report. As it drove off, police noticed the car’s brake lights were not working and pulled over the vehicle, which Cotto was driving.
Police searched the car finding a loaded Arminius revolver, 2.3 grams of crack cocaine, about 47 grams of heroin, a digital scale and 22 rounds of ammunition, the report said.
Cotto told police everything in the car belonged to him, the report said. A passenger was detained but later released. Police noted Cotto is a convicted felon and prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm.
Cotto was released on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 5.
