MERIDEN — A man faces charges after police say he used lit fireworks to assault a man and damage a car.

Cleon Powell, 25, of 275 Grove St., Meriden, was arrested on June 17 and charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief, and two counts each of second-degree breach of peace and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Police say Powell shot fireworks at another man from a second floor balcony on Grove Street. The man told police he was struck by at least one of the fireworks and that Powell was his tenant. Fireworks also damaged at least one vehicle.

Powell denied being involved, the report said. He was taken into custody and later released on $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Aug. 6.
