City man charged after search finds fentanyl, cocaine

MERIDEN — A local man faces charges after police said he was found with two grams of fentanyl and a half gram of crack cocaine.

Francisco Sanchez, 24, of 22 North St., was charged Thursday with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and interfering with an officer.

On Thursday just before 8 p.m. officers in the area of Grove Street and Foster Street saw Sanchez walking and took him into custody because of an active warrant, according to the police report.

At the police station, Sanchez did not comply with requests to remove items from his pants. During a strip search, police found a bag with 2.5 grams of fentanyl and another with .6 grams of crack cocaine, the report said.

Sanchez was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Friday. According to statements in court, Sanchez was previously charged with criminal weapon possession, driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct in New York. Bond was set at $75,000.
