MERIDEN — A vehicle was found with bullet holes after reported shots fired on Old Colony Road on Monday and a man was charged with drug offenses, police said.

Police responded to the area of 1045 Old Colony Rd. around 10:39 p.m. on Monday for a report of shots fired, police spokesman Sgt. Michael Boothroyd said. Officers found a vehicle that was struck by bullets and shell casings, Boothroyd said. There were no reported injuries.

Officers investigating believe the people involved were known to each other and it was not a random act of violence, Boothroyd noted. The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with video or information is asked to contact Det. Pellegrini at 203-630-6297 or at bpellegrini@meridenct.gov

During the course of the investigation officers identified a man at the scene as Freddy Soriano, 20, of 1045 Old Colony Rd. Police recovered a total of 47.3 grams crack cocaine and 2.5 grams of marijuana, Boothroyd said.

Soriano was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, operating a drug factory and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana. He was held on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Aug. 3.
